The trip from Sarjapur Road to Electronic City depends on where on Sarjapur Road you start. From Gattahalli, the developer’s brochure puts Infosys in Electronic City at about 8 km. There are 3 main road routes and one metro option, the Yellow Line, open since August 2025. This guide compares each route, its trade-offs and how to test your own commute.

Where Sarjapur Road and Electronic City sit

Sarjapur Road runs south-east from Iblur junction, near Bellandur, out to Sarjapur town. Electronic City sits to the south-west, on Hosur Road. The two corridors are close on a map but split by lakes, villages and a few narrow link roads.

Electronic City itself is one of Bengaluru’s oldest IT hubs. It has two main parts, Phase 1 and Phase 2, and hosts large campuses of Infosys and Wipro. It sits along Hosur Road, which is also NH 44, the highway to Hosur and Tamil Nadu.

Three link roads matter most. Hosa Road runs from Sarjapur Road near Kaikondrahalli to Hosur Road. Rayasandra Road links the Gattahalli area towards Hosa Road junction. Further south, the Chandapura–Dommasandra road links Sarjapur Road at Muthanallur Cross to Hosur Road at Chandapura.

Adarsh Welkin Park is in Gattahalli, off Sarjapur Road, on Rayasandra Road beside Gattahalli Lake. That puts it closer to the Electronic City side than many projects on the main Sarjapur Road. You can see this on the homepage location map.

Three road routes compared

Each route suits a different starting point. The table below sets them out.

RouteBest forKey roadsMain trade-off

ORR, Silk Board and the flyoverIblur, Bellandur, KaikondrahalliSarjapur Road, ORR, Silk Board, E-City flyoverSilk Board jams; the flyover has a toll

Route 1: Rayasandra Road to Hosa Road junction

This is the natural route from Gattahalli. You take Rayasandra Road towards Hosa Road junction, then turn south on Hosur Road. The Electronic City campuses lie a short run down Hosur Road from there.

The brochure lists two Electronic City landmarks at about 8 km from the site. These are Infosys and E-City Hospital. That is a short trip by Bengaluru standards, though junction traffic can slow it.

The main pinch point is Hosa Road junction on Hosur Road. It gets busy in the morning and evening rush. Local roads near Rayasandra are also narrower than Sarjapur Road itself. If you start before the rush, this route is the simplest of the three. It also keeps you off Silk Board junction, which many Sarjapur Road commuters try hard to avoid. For a site visit, drive it once at your real office hour before you decide.

Route 2: Dommasandra and Chandapura

This route suits people at the Sarjapur town end. You leave Sarjapur Road at Muthanallur Cross, near Dommasandra. The Chandapura–Dommasandra road then takes you west to Hosur Road at Chandapura.

Chandapura sits south of Electronic City. So you drive north on Hosur Road to reach the campuses. For Gattahalli, this loop is longer than Route 1, so it works mainly as a backup.

Route 3: ORR, Silk Board and the flyover

This route suits people at the Iblur and Bellandur end. You head to the ORR, then west to Silk Board junction. From there, the Electronic City flyover carries you over Hosur Road.

The flyover is a 9.985 km elevated road from Silk Board to Electronic City. It opened in January 2010. It is a toll road, so check the current rate before you use it daily. Silk Board junction is one of the busiest in Bengaluru, which is the big drawback here.

The metro option: Yellow Line

The Yellow Line opened on 10 August 2025. It runs 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra along Hosur Road. It has 16 stations, all on a viaduct.

Several stops serve Electronic City and the roads that lead to it:

StationWhat it serves
Hosa RoadHosa Road junction, the nearest stop for the Rayasandra side
Beratena AgraharaThe stretch just north of Electronic City
Electronic CityElectronic City Phase 1 campuses
Infosys Foundation Konappana AgraharaThe Infosys side of Electronic City
Huskur RoadThe Huskur Road area
Biocon HebbagodiHebbagodi and the Biocon area
Delta Electronics BommasandraBommasandra and the end of the line

No metro runs on Sarjapur Road yet. From Gattahalli, you would drive or take a cab to Hosa Road station, then ride south. This works best if your office sits close to a Yellow Line stop. If it does not, the extra leg at each end may cancel the time saved.

Train gaps on the Yellow Line have changed since launch as new trains arrived. Check the latest timings with BMRCL before you plan around it.

Getting to the metro from Gattahalli

The Yellow Line helps only if the first and last legs are easy. From Gattahalli, the first leg is the road trip to Hosa Road station. The last leg is the walk or ride from your E-City stop to the office gate.

Here are the usual ways to cover the first leg, with their trade-offs:

First-leg optionUpsideDownside
Own car or two-wheelerLeave when you likeYou need parking near Hosa Road station
App cab or autoNo parking worryCost adds up over 20+ work days a month
Company bus or shuttleDoor to gate, no metro neededFixed times; routes vary by employer
BMTC busLow fareCheck routes and gaps on Rayasandra Road first

Many Electronic City employers run staff buses. If yours does, ask HR whether a route covers Rayasandra Road or Hosa Road. That single answer can shape your whole commute.

For a family with one car, the metro can free the car for school runs. That is a real gain even if the metro trip is not faster than driving.

Peak and off-peak: what to expect

Travel time on these routes swings a lot with the hour. Bengaluru traffic peaks in the morning and evening office rush. A drive that feels short at 7 am can take much longer at 9.30 am.

We do not quote fixed times, because they change with each season, each road work and each new tower. Instead, test your own trip. Here is a simple method:

  1. Pick your real office gate, not just “Electronic City”.
  2. Check a live traffic map at your actual start time on 2 or 3 weekdays.
  3. Try the return trip at your usual leaving time too.
  4. Compare the drive with the metro option from Hosa Road station.
  5. Note the worst day, not only the best day.

This gives you a range you can trust, far better than a single number in an advert.

What could change the commute in future

Two planned projects could reshape travel on this belt. Both remain proposals as of September 2026.

The first is the Sarjapur Road metro, Phase 3A. It would run along Sarjapur Road to Hebbal but does not go to Electronic City. It still awaits Union Cabinet approval. We cover its route in our Sarjapur Road metro guide.

The second is the Peripheral Ring Road, which BDA now calls the Bengaluru Business Corridor. Its planned southern end meets Hosur Road at Konappana Agrahara, near Electronic City. That could give Sarjapur Road a second link to Electronic City. But the Sarjapur Road stretch is in the last phase. Read more in our PRR guide.

Plan your home buy on the roads that exist today. If either project opens on time, treat it as a bonus.

Who this commute suits

A home in Gattahalli can suit people who work in two hubs. Electronic City is to the south-west. The Sarjapur Road and ORR offices are to the north-east. The brochure lists TCS at about 4 km and Infosys at about 8 km from the site.

Think about the next 5 to 10 years, not just your current job. Many people in Bengaluru change employers, and offices move between hubs. A home that sits between two job belts keeps more options open.

This helps couples who work in different corridors. One partner can head to Electronic City while the other goes to Sarjapur Road or the ORR. Gattahalli sits between the two hubs, so neither trip runs across the whole city.

The trade-off is that Gattahalli is not on the main road or a metro line. You will depend on a car, a cab or a company bus for the first leg. Weigh this against the lake views and the 72% open space the brochure lists.

You can compare the amenities and floor plans on the homepage. They show what you get for the commute you choose. More Bengaluru guides sit on the blog.
