The Sarjapur Road metro is not built yet. As of September 2026, the planned 36.59 km Phase 3A line to Hebbal has state approval but awaits Union Cabinet approval. The metro you can use today from Gattahalli is the Yellow Line, which opened in August 2025 through Electronic City. This guide sets out the route, the stations and what it means for a home buyer.
What the Sarjapur Road metro is
Namma Metro calls this corridor Phase 3A. Many reports also call it the Red Line. It runs from Sarjapur in the south-east to Hebbal in the north.
Per BMRCL’s plan, the line is about 36.59 km long with 28 stations. Some reports round it to 37 km. Most of the line runs on a raised viaduct. The dense central stretch, from Koramangala through Town Hall, runs underground.
The Karnataka Cabinet cleared the project on 6 December 2024. In 2025 BMRCL revised the cost to about ₹28,405 crore, per reports on the revised plan. The Centre holds a 50% stake in Namma Metro. That is why the Union Cabinet must also approve the line before full work can start.
As of September 2026, that Union Cabinet approval has not come. Reports say soil testing along the route began in January 2026. Soil tests are early groundwork, not construction.
Route and planned stations
The line leaves Sarjapur town and runs north-west along Sarjapur Road. It then turns through Ibbalur, Agara and Koramangala into the old city. It ends at Hebbal on the airport road.
The table below lists the stations on the Sarjapur Road half of the line, as published by BMRCL and reported in 2026. Names can change before work starts.
| Order from Sarjapur | Planned station | Area it serves |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sarjapura | Sarjapur town |
| 2 | Kada Agrahara Road | Outer Sarjapur belt |
| 3 | Sompura | Sompura and nearby layouts |
| 4 | Dommasandra | Dommasandra circle |
| 5 | Muthanallur Cross | Muthanallur and Kodathi side |
| 6 | Ambedkar Nagar | Wipro SEZ stretch |
| 7 | Carmelaram | Carmelaram and RGA Tech Park |
| 8 | Doddakannelli | Wipro corporate campus |
| 9 | Kaikondrahalli | Kaikondrahalli lake area |
| 10 | Bellandur Gate | Sarjapur Road and ORR junction |
| 11 | Ibbalur | Iblur junction |
| 12 | Agara | Agara lake and HSR side |
After Agara, the line serves Jakkasandra, two Koramangala stops, Dairy Circle and NIMHANS. It then reaches Shanthinagar, Town Hall, KR Circle, Mekhri Circle and Hebbal. In total the plan has 28 stops.
For a Gattahalli resident, the Sarjapur Road stops matter most for work trips. Carmelaram serves RGA Tech Park, and Doddakannelli serves the Wipro campus. Bellandur Gate links to the Outer Ring Road offices.
One source lists a Kodathi Circle stop and another does not. This is normal at the draft stage. Always check the final list from BMRCL once the Centre approves the line.
Where Gattahalli sits on the metro map
Adarsh Welkin Park is in Gattahalli, off Sarjapur Road, on Rayasandra Road beside Gattahalli Lake. The site sits between two metro corridors, and neither one runs past the gate.
To the east, Phase 3A will follow Sarjapur Road itself. The nearest planned stops on that side are Dommasandra, Muthanallur Cross and Carmelaram. The developer’s own map marks this line as proposed Metro Phase III.
To the west, the Yellow Line already runs along Hosur Road. Its Hosa Road and Electronic City stations serve the Electronic City side. Rayasandra Road links the site towards Hosa Road junction, so this is the working option today.
We do not quote a walking time to any station, because none of them is next door. The brochure lists road distances to schools and offices, but not to metro stops. Plan on a short drive or a cab to reach either Metro line. You can see the full location map on the homepage.
The Yellow Line: the metro you can use now
The Yellow Line runs 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra. It has 16 stations, all on a viaduct. The Prime Minister opened it on 10 August 2025. Public rides began the next day.
For Rayasandra Road, the useful stops sit near the south end. They are Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara and Electronic City. From there, the line runs north past Kudlu Gate, Bommanahalli and Central Silk Board to RV Road.
The Yellow Line also passes several job hubs on the way. Electronic City, Kudlu Gate and Bommanahalli all have large offices close to the stations. That makes the line useful for a reverse commute as well as a trip into the city.
At RV Road you can change to the Green Line. Silk Board is also set to become a change point with the Blue Line to the airport. That Blue Line section is still under construction, so check its status before you plan around it.
Train gaps on the Yellow Line have changed since launch as new trains arrived. Check the current timetable with BMRCL before you plan a daily commute. You can compare both corridors on the homepage location map.
Current status and timeline, as of September 2026
It helps to split what BMRCL has done from what is still on paper. The table below sets this out.
| Milestone | Status as of September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Karnataka Cabinet approval | Done, 6 December 2024 |
| Revised plan and cost | Revised in 2025, about ₹28,405 crore per reports |
| Union Cabinet approval | Awaited |
| Soil testing | Started January 2026, per reports |
| Opening date | Not fixed; reports range from 2031 to 2033 |
Metro projects in Bengaluru often run late. The Yellow Line itself opened years after its first target. So treat any opening year for Phase 3A as a hope, not a date.
What it means if you buy near Sarjapur Road
A future metro can help a home near Sarjapur Road in two ways. It can cut daily travel time, and it can widen the pool of future buyers and tenants. But neither effect is certain, and Phase 3A is years away.
A future metro can also mean less need for a second car. That saving matters more than any headline about land rates. Here is a balanced way to think about Phase 3A:
- Buy for the roads you have today. Sarjapur Road, Hosa Road and the Yellow Line all work now. Your commute should make sense without Phase 3A.
- Treat the metro as upside, not the plan. If the line opens in the 2030s, it adds a second option on the Sarjapur Road side. That is a bonus on top of a home that already suits you.
- Expect building work. Once work starts, parts of Sarjapur Road may see lane closures for years. The Yellow Line build on Hosur Road caused similar delays.
- Check the station, not the line. A stop 2 km away is very different from one 6 km away. Measure the drive at your own commute hour.
- Think about who rents from you. If you plan to let the home out, ask where your likely tenants work. A tenant at an Electronic City campus gains from the Yellow Line now, not from Phase 3A later.
Adarsh Welkin Park has a reported possession date of December 2028 onwards. So the homes are likely to be ready years before Phase 3A opens. During that gap, your daily options will be the Yellow Line, Sarjapur Road and Hosa Road.
How to check metro claims yourself
Many listings in Bengaluru say a project is “near the upcoming metro”. Here are four quick checks before you trust that line:
- Ask which station, by name, and check it on BMRCL’s published list.
- Ask whether the line has Union Cabinet approval yet. For Phase 3A, the answer as of September 2026 is no.
- Measure the real road distance, not the straight-line distance on a map.
- Ask for the source of any opening year, and check that the source dates from 2026.
A fifth check is timing, and it matters more than the other 4. Compare the likely metro year with the possession date of the home. If the metro comes 3 to 5 years after you move in, plan your first years around roads and the Yellow Line.
You can compare the master plan and the construction status on the homepage of Adarsh Welkin Park. Together with the metro facts above, they show how the site fits your travel needs.
